Congratulations to Tsui Tsz-kin and Wu Lok-yi, both year-two students of Associate in Design (Environment and Interior Design), on winning the Second Runner-up Award (College Group) with their work "鋁融未來園ReAL Works" in the 9th Social Innovation Inventor Design Competition organised by the World Green Organisation (WGO). The duo also won another Second Runner-up award in the special award of "Best Smart Recycling System (Aluminum Metal Recycling)".
The theme of this year's competition was "Turning Waste into Resources", with the aim of encouraging local university and secondary school students to put green elements into architectural design. The competition attracted more than 100 students to team up to compete, and 17 teams entered the final round to present their display models and explain their design concepts to the professional judging panel.
The award presentation ceremony was held on 25 March 2023 at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center. Dr Vanessa Au, Assistant Director (Waste Reduction) of the Environmental Protection Department, was invited to be the officiating guest. She presented the awards to the outstanding student teams together with Dr William Yu, Chief Executive Officer of WGO.
