The "STEAM+01 Summer Bootcamp 2023" co-organised by HKCC was held during 22-23 July 2023 at PolyU Hung Hom Bay Campus. The event attracted 300 teachers and students from about 40 secondary schools.
The event was organised by "HK01", an online news portal, and sponsored by China Life (Overseas). HKCC, as the co-organiser, provided the venue and held drone workshops. The opening ceremony was officiated by Mr Jeff Sze Chun-Fai, Under Secretary for Education.
Dr Anthony Loh, Director of HKCC, said in his opening speech that it was a great honour for HKCC to be the co-organiser of the event. He hoped that the event would not only help students develop creativity, active learning spirit, communication skills and a sense of responsibility but also open the door for students to equip themselves with more STEAM knowledge and arouse their interest in learning.
The two-day student workshops covered eight popular technology topics such as VR/AR and 3D printing. Students had the opportunity to understand the relevant technology theories and experience their practical applications firsthand, with the hope of increasing their interest in innovation and technology and nurturing relevant talents for Hong Kong.
