Congratulations to Chung Wing-cheung and Lam Mei-wai Maris, year-two students of PolyU HKCC's Associate in Design (Environment and Interior Design), on winning the Second Runner-up Award in the Nina Park Design Competition organised by Chinachem Group. Another team formed by Chu Kam-hung, Lo Chun-hei, and So Cheuk-long from the same programme received the Honorable Mention. The final presentation and award ceremony was held at Nina Tower in Tsuen Wan on 13 December 2023.
With the theme of "Pavilion for All", this competition aimed at commemorating the opening of Nina Park. Young designers were encouraged to reimagine the conventional role of shelters, explore community and environmental needs, and suggest placemaking interventions in their design proposals. The competition attracted over 90 teams formed by full-time students studying design-related disciplines in tertiary institutions in Hong Kong and Macau. Among them, ten teams were shortlisted for the final.
Mingle, the team formed by Wing-cheung and Maris, garnered the Second Runner-up Award with their design "Net's Go Climbing! Pavilion". The judging panel commended their work for its energetic and interactive structure designed to engage the local children of Tsuen Wan, who are the primary visitors of Nina Park. With a colourful rope net, they designed a pavilion for children to climb freely and safely.
