From 9 February to 23 March 2025, the Division of Languages and Communication of PolyU CPCE invited instructors from CanTone — a social venture lauded for integrating technology into Cantonese education — to host a six-session Cantonese workshop, attracting 25 non-local students from PolyU HKCC to participate.
The workshop equipped the attendees with essential language skills for practical, everyday situations, including shopping, medical appointments and job interviews. With assistance from an advanced AI app, the participants gained insights into the distinctions between Cantonese and Putonghua in areas such as phonetics, vocabulary and grammar. Through comprehensive training in listening, speaking and writing, they developed the confidence to communicate effectively in various scenarios.
By encouraging cross-cultural exchange, the Cantonese Workshop highlights the College's efforts in building up a richly diverse and inclusive campus environment to enhance students' learning experience.
