About First Round Application 2019/20 (for HKDSE candidates)

  • Why should I apply early? When is the deadline? When is the result announcement date?Expand

The application period for the First Round Application 2019/20 for HKCC’s Associate Degree and Higher Diploma programmes is from 6 December 2018 to 14 May 2019. There are two stages, namely Advance Processing and Regular Processing, each with a deadline. Details are as follows:

    1. Advance Processing Stage (6 December 2018 – 8 January 2019)
Applicants who apply on or before 8 January 2019 will be given priority and may be granted a Conditional Offer by HKCC as early as February 2019.
    2. Regular Processing Stage (10 January – 14 May 2019)
Applicants who apply between 10 January and 14 May 2019 will also be entitled to a chance of receiving a Conditional Offer from HKCC at a later stage.

Applications received after HKDSE result announcement will be considered ONLY IF there are places left after all rounds of selection. Some programmes may also be closed for applications when places are filled. In other words, the earlier you apply, the greater the chance that you can be admitted to your favourite programme.

  • How does HKCC select applicants?Expand

Selection of applicants will be mainly based on their HKDSE results. However, your school results in S4 to S6, School Reference Report (SRR), Student Learning Profile (SLP), secondary school teacher/principal recommendation letter, and performance in the interview/written test/aptitude test (for certain programmes only), etc. will also be taken into consideration.

Besides, there are HKDSE subject preferences for some programmes, please click here for details. As a general rule, preference will be given to students who have studied subjects highly relevant to their programme choices.

After submitting your application or receiving a conditional offer, you can apply to change your programme choices on or before 30 June 2019, either via E-APP (if you are 2019 HKDSE candidate), or by completing Form 33 “Application for Change of Programme Choice” (please click here to download the form) (if you are non-2019 HKDSE candidate and submit your application for admission via HKCC Online Application for Admission (OAA)). A second written test, aptitude test or interview may be required. Please note that the total credits to be taken for different programmes may vary.

  • What are the most common mistakes made by applicants?Expand

Applicants sitting for HKDSE in 2019 (including re-takers) should apply via E-APP, so that HKCC can receive a copy of the School Reference Report (SRR) provided by your secondary school. This SRR is important when we consider your application.

Moreover, you should input correctly your HKDSE subjects. If you are taking Combined Science, you should also fill in the two components among Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

If you have ever attempted public examinations before 2019, e.g. HKDSE, HKALE, HKCEE or any other examinations, please upload a copy of the result slip(s). This will help a lot in processing your application.

The application fee is HK$150 regardless of how many programmes you apply.

For other details, please read through the Information for Applicants carefully before you submit your application.
