  1.  Announcements made by the Education Bureau are not applicable to courses / programmes offered in CPCE.
  2. The arrangements below do not apply to training / clinical placement outside the PolyU campuses. Students should follow the arrangements of individual organisations or as announced by CAR.

A. Tropical Cyclone Warning and Extreme Conditions

Signal No. 1 or 3

Classes/examinations will be held as scheduled.

Signal No. 8 or above OR "Extreme Conditions" after super typhoons

Arrangements for Classes NOT YET STARTED
  • Signal No. 8 or above is likely to be hoisted within the next two hours OR is hoisted during the period specified on the right (as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory)
  • 'Extreme conditions' are in force during the period specified on the right (as announce by the Government)
 From 6:30 am but before 12:00 noon All classes* commencing before 2:00 pm will be cancelled.
From 12:00 noon but before 4:30 pm All classes* commencing at any time from 12:00 noon and before 6:30 pm will be cancelled.
From 4:30 pm All classes* commencing from 4:30 pm onward will be cancelled.
  • Signal No. 8 or above is lowered during the period specified on the right (as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory)  
  • "Extreme conditions" are cancelled (as announced by the Government)
 At or before 6:30 am All classes* will be held as scheduled.
After 6:30 am but before or at 12:00 noon All classes* commencing from 2:00 pm onward will be held as scheduled.
After 12:00 noon but before or at 4:30 pm All classes* commencing from 6:30 pm onward will be held as scheduled.
After 4:30 pm All classes* commencing from 6:30 pm onward will be cancelled.
Arrangements for Classes ALREADY STARTED
Students attending classes shall be released to go home as soon as possible.
Arrangements for Examinations
  • Signal No. 8 or above is hoisted OR is likely to be hoisted within two hours before the commencement of examinations^ (as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory)
  • "Extreme conditions" are in force within two hours before the commencement of examinations^ (as announced by the Government)
 Examinations^ will be postponed to another day.
  • Signal No. 8 or above is hoisted during examinations^ (as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory) 
  • "Extreme conditions" are announced during examinations^ (as announced by the Government)
 Examinations^ will continue unless otherwise announced by CAR.
  • Signal No. 8 or above is lowered OR is likely to be lowered two hours before the commencement of examinations^ (as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory)
  • "Extreme conditions" are cancelled two hours before the commencement of examinations^ (as announced by the Government)
 Examinations^ will be held as scheduled unless otherwise announced by CAR.
CAR will notify the students concerned of the revised examination arrangements within five working days after the cyclone warning signal has been lowered / cancelled.

B. Rainstorm Warning

Amber Warning

Classes/examinations will be held as scheduled.

Red Warning

Classes/examinations will be held as scheduled unless the CAR concerned announces the suspension of these activities.

Black Warning

Arrangements for Classes NOT YET STARTED
Warning is in force during the period specified on the right(as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory) From 6:30 am but before 12:00 noon All classes* commencing before 2:00 pm will be cancelled.
From 12:00 noon but before 4:30 pm All classes* commencing at any time from 12:00 noon and before 6:30 pm will be cancelled.
From 4:30 pm All classes* commencing from 4:30 pm onward will be cancelled.
Warning is cancelled during the period specified on the right (as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory) At or before 6:30 am All classes* will be held as scheduled.
After 6:30 am but  before or at 12:00 noon  All classes* which commence at or after 2:00 pm onward will be held as scheduled unless otherwise announced by CAR.
After 12:00 noon but before or at 4:30 pm  All classes* which commence at or after 6:30 pm onward will be held as scheduled unless otherwise announced by CAR.
After 4:30 pm All classes* commencing from 6:30 pm onward will be cancelled.
Arrangements for Examinations NOT YET STARTED
Warning is in force within two hours before the commencement of examinations^ (as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory) Examinations^ will be postponed to another day.
Warning is cancelled two hours before the commencement of examinations^ (as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory) Examinations^ will be held as scheduled unless otherwise announced by CAR.
CAR will notify the students concerned of the revised examination arrangements within five working days after the warning has been cancelled.
Arrangements for Classes/Examinations ALREADY STARTED
  • As advised by the Government, people should take shelter in a safe place during classes/examinations. The activities will continue unless otherwise announced by the CAR. 
  • If the warning is still in force when classes/examinations end, you are advised to stay on campus for your own safety until the warning has been cancelled or the traffic conditions have improved. You should contact the Campus Facilities Management Office for assistance when necessary.
     
*
If the class has a lecture which is followed immediately by a tutorial, it will be regarded as two different class sessions. For example, if the Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 8 / Black Rainstorm Warning is lowered at or after 6:30 am and before 12:00 noon, the lecture starting at 1:00 pm will be cancelled while the tutorial starting at 2:00 pm will be held as scheduled.

For oral examinations, starting time refers to the commencement of the whole session (e.g. Morning Session - 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon or Afternoon Session - 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.) of the oral examination for a subject instead of the examination timeslot of an individual student.
