PolyU HKCC - Entrance Requirements

Minimum entrance requirements that you need to meet are:

Level 2 or above in five HKDSE subjects ⁽ⁱ⁾ (including English and Chinese⁽ⁱⁱ⁾). Applied Learning (ApL) subjects(iii) can be included⁽ⁱⁱⁱ⁾.

Certain programmes have additional requirements/subject preferences.

(i) If one of the five HKDSE subjects is Citizenship and Social Development subject, the minimum entrance requirement would become "Attained" for Citizenship and Social Development subject and Level 2 in four other HKDSE subjects including Chinese and English. Besides, Level 2 in Mathematics Extended Part (Module 1 or Module 2) is also recognised as one of the five HKDSE subjects in fulfilling the minimum entrance requirement.
(ii) For non-Chinese-speaking learners, alternative Chinese Language qualifications, including ApL Chinese (for non-Chinese speaking students) are accepted.
(iii) The ApL subjects do not include ApL Chinese (for non-Chinese speaking students).

Additional subject requirements for the following programmes:

Associate Degree Scheme in Applied Social Sciences
Higher Diploma in Social Work

Applicants should possess basic reading competence in Chinese and be able to communicate in Cantonese. A test on Chinese proficiency may be required.

Associate in Chinese Language and Literature

Level 3 or above in HKDSE Chinese; OR its equivalents.

Associate in English for Professional Communication

Level 3 or above in HKDSE English; OR its equivalents.

Associate in Statistics and Data Science

Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics; OR its equivalents.

HKDSE subject preferences for the following programmes:

Associate in Engineering

Mathematics, extended modules of Mathematics, Physics and Combined Science (with Physics component).

Associate in Health Studies

Biology and Combined Science (with Biology component).

Associate in Information Technology

Mathematics, extended modules of Mathematics and Information & Communication Technology.

Associate of Science

Mathematics, extended modules of Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Combined Science.

Note:

Applicants with outstanding achievements in non-academic areas such as sports, music, social services and other cultural activities are welcome to highlight such information in the application. The College may give consideration to such achievements and assess such applications on a case-by-case basis.

Satisfactory completion of a recognised one-year full-time programme at Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF) Level 3, e.g. Diploma of Applied Education, Diploma Yi Jin ; OR
Qualifications equivalent to those stipulated above; OR
For those who do not possess the above-mentioned qualifications but have reached the age of 25 before 1 September in the admission year, they may apply as "mature" applicants. Mature applicants are expected to demonstrate proficiency in English as well as suitability to study for the programme to the satisfaction of the admission panel.
For applicants for Higher Diploma Programmes, relevant and substantial work experience and/or prior qualification(s) obtained in or outside Hong Kong (e.g. assessed through recognition of prior learning and credit accumulation and transfer), with demonstrated ability to undertake sub-degree education.
