Dr Christine Hui has been a registered social worker since 1993 and has worked in different social service units such as secondary schools, community centres, rehabilitation centres and residential settings.
Dr Hui obtained her Diploma in Social Work and Bachelor in Social Work from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and furthered her study in The Chinese University of Hong Kong for the Master's degree in Social Work (Clinical) programme. She was conferred the Doctor of Social Work by PolyU in 2021 and her doctoral dissertation was about teachers as role models in social work education and the perspectives and experiences of social work students in Hong Kong.
Dr Hui has rich and solid frontline social service experience in working with youth, children and parents. She also has several years of work experience in rehabilitation settings, training centres and hostels for disabled persons and children.
Dr Hui also possesses experience of being a social work fieldwork supervisor for different registered social work programmes in Hong Kong.
She perceives teaching as not only about teaching skills and knowledge. Cultivating and building students' potential is much more rewarding and important.
Dr Hui's research interests lie in social work education, teaching pedagogy and social work students' professional identity.
Dr Hui is a registered social worker and a member of The Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association.
