Dr Mak received his Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied Statistics with Management Science from the University of Plymouth in the UK and MPhil in Civil and Structural Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). During his study at PolyU, he received the “Highways into the Next Century 1996 International Conference Scholarship” in 2007. Moreover, he earned his Doctor of Philosophy Degree from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of PolyU. His main research interests lie in environmental science, and tyre/road noise on which he has published research papers in renowned international journals.
Prior to joining HKCC, Dr Mak taught Engineering Mathematics and Statistics at the Department of Applied Mathematics at PolyU and worked as a visiting lecturer at HKCC.
Dr Mak has taught several courses including Business Statistics, Quantitative Methods, and Management Science.
