Dr Oscar Chiu graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) with a Bachelor of Science (first class honours) majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Government and Public Administration. In recognition of his academic excellence, Dr Chiu has been placed on the Dean’s List during his undergraduate study. Meanwhile, he has also received a number of achievement awards due to his outstanding academic performance and active participation in extra-curricular activities. Dr Chiu continued to pursue a higher degree and obtained his PhD degree in Chemistry from CUHK. His research interests mainly focused on main group chemistry, with special emphasis on the synthesis and reactivity study of low-valent germanium-containing compounds. Some of the results have been published in renowned research journals.
Dr Chiu has been serving as a hostel tutor for New Asia College and Shaw College of CUHK. He has also been a teaching assistant of some university courses and has participated in international conferences held at France and Taiwan. Dr Chiu would like to share not only his professional knowledge but also his learning and life experience with youngsters.
