Dr Cecilia Pun received her Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Language Technology with first class honours, and MPhil in Linguistics from City University of Hong Kong (CityU). Besides, she obtained a joint-U PhD from CityU and The University of Sydney, with a research focus on the development of writing in English under tertiary settings.
Her research interests include Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), text linguistics, academic writing, and discourse analysis. Besides her work on writing development, Dr Pun also actively participates in other collaborated research projects, for example on the training for graduate teaching assistants, and development of SFL annotated corpus.
Before joining HKCC, Dr Pun was involved in an English language development research project with the focuses on curriculum and pedagogy in CityU. She also tutored courses in text linguistics, language in relation to ideology, society, culture and cognition, and teaching. These strengthen and support both her teaching and research.
