CPCE Shines Again in Student Barometer Autumn Survey
2017-04-05

CPCE participated in the Student Barometer (SB) exercise for the second year in a row, and its results continue to compare favourably with international and local universities/ institutions.

The SB Autumn is global survey of student experience conducted by the independent research company “i-graduate”. In 2016, over 188,000 responses were received from students of 196 universities/ institutions in 17 countries and regions, including 7 UGC-funded and self-financing institutions in Hong Kong. Between September and December 2016, HKCC and SPEED students were asked to provide feedback on their satisfaction and recommendations with regard to arrival, learning, living and support.

In the SB Autumn 2016, CPCE received an encouraging overall student satisfaction rate of 89%, which is in line with the global benchmark and higher than the local benchmark.    The survey among the local students of the participating institutions in Hong Kong revealed that CPCE for the second consecutive year achieved the following:

  • Ranked first1 for almost all of the teaching elements assessed in the survey, including: the quality of lectures, learning support, academics’ English, good teachers, programme organisation, programme content, research, assessment, marking criteria, and performance feedback.

  • Ranked first1 for several non-teaching-related elements, including: careers advice from academic staff, class size, learning spaces (quality of lecture theatres and classrooms), learning through extra-curricular activities, and learning technology.

The bar graph below shows some of the elements that CPCE has performed well above the local and global benchmarks in the SB Autumn 2016:

CPCE always places a strong focus on the quality of learning and teaching. The survey results serve as a fine testament to CPCE’s efforts in working towards its vision of being a leading self-financing tertiary education institution in Hong Kong.
