From 2007 to 2013, Dr Zhu took the posts of Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Fellow, successively, in the Institute of Textiles and Clothing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He was engaged in several General Research Fund (GRF) and Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) projects, and coordinated an ITF platform project sponsored by Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) and The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA). His major work focused on fabric-based soft sensing technologies and wearable electronics. His academic interests include mechanical behavior and modelling of various engineering materials, exploration and evaluation of soft sensing technique in textiles / apparel, as well as development of interactive textile devices.
Before joining HKCC, Dr Zhu was employed by Top Form International Ltd. as an R&D engineer, responsible for research and development of functional intimate apparel / sportswear, optimisation of manufacturing process / parameters, and improvement of production quality.
