Teaching and Scholarly Interests:

  • Health & Life Sciences

Dr Carrie Wong obtained her Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Chemical Technology and then PhD in Chemistry from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her research interest mainly focuses on molecular structure in the solid state, particularly applied to medium-sized organic molecules (such as pharmaceuticals). It requires skills in computational chemistry and a better understanding of quantum mechanics for the advanced mathematical modeling of complex molecular systems. She has published a number of papers in reputed international academic journals and various international conferences.

Carrie possesses rich teaching experience in the higher education sector of Hong Kong. She was an instructor at the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and invited to be a visiting lecturer of the Hong Kong University School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKUSPACE). She has taught subjects including Chemical Process Technology, Chemical and Bioprocess Technology, Process Economics & Quality Management, Principles of Quality Assurance, General Chemistry, and Medical Statistics. Her commitment to excellence in teaching won her as one of the most popular instructors in the Department during her years of teaching.

Carrie enjoys student-teacher interaction very much and likes to see her students grow and succeed in their studies and careers. She always encourages her students to pursue lifelong learning and she set an example by completing a postgraduate diploma in English Language Studies.

Carrie enjoys reading, particularly books on forensic chemistry, in her leisure time.
