In order to pursue the excellence in Putonghua teaching, Mr Chow has obtained Level One Grade B in the Putonghua Proficiency Test (Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi ) organised by The State Language Commission of China. With a passion for knowledge, Mr Chow keeps on improving himself after graduation – he has obtained the Diploma in Putonghua Teaching at Hong Kong Baptist University and the Postgraduate Diploma in Education at The Hong Kong Institute of Education.
Over the years, Mr Chow has gained rich experience in teaching. He has taught Chinese Literature and Putonghua as a lecturer and an assistant lecturer at The Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education and The Community College at Lingnan University. During his time with The Community College at Lingnan University, Mr Chow served as the subject coordinator of its Chinese programme and was responsible for compiling its teaching materials. For three years in a row, from 2003 to 2006, Mr Chow was the team leader of the Putonghua Summer Immersion Course co-organised by the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research, Lingnan University, and Capital Normal University; he was responsible for leading primary and secondary school teachers to Beijing to receive Putonghua improvement training and to take the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi. Mr Chow is now the Vice Secretary-General (Internal Affairs) of the Hong Kong Society for Chinese Language Modernization. The Society aims to promote Putonghua and facilitate the Chinese language modernization in Hong Kong.
Born in Taipei, Mr Chow came to Hong Kong at a very young age. He is deeply interested in the culture of Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mainland China. He likes to travel around China to experience different customs and enrich his life experiences.
