In 2008, Ms Chiu started teaching English subjects as a visiting lecturer in HKCC including Foundation English, Use of English, and English for Academic Studies. Now teaching full-time at HKCC, Ms Chiu is responsible for teaching English subjects.
Being an Executive Committee member and the Chairlady of the University Affairs Committee of the Students’ Union of CityU, she attended youth conferences in Australia and Taiwan in representation of the University. Upon graduation, she joined a 3-month Raleigh International expedition in Namibia, Africa. She helped build wildlife water facilities in Etosha National Park, completed a 3-week desert trekking challenge, and helped build 4 sanitary facilities for local villagers. Ms Chiu was greatly inspired by her different international and inter-cultural exposure and has become an active volunteer for youth services since then.
A strong believer that students can learn and perform better given effective motivation, continued encouragement and appropriate challenges, Ms Chiu was awarded HKCC’s Caring Teaching Award in 2009. She likes working and communicating with young people, and is eager to share her knowledge, experience and faith in Jesus Christ.
