Dr Chen Ying-cong obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Language and Literature in 2005 and Master of Arts in Traditional Chinese Literature in 2007 from Sun Yat-sen University. After that, she pursued her doctoral degree in the Division of Humanities of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and was awarded Doctor of Philosophy in 2012.

Dr Chen also has a keen devotion to teaching. As a teaching assistant of HKUST, she had rich experience in a variety of theoretical and genre courses, such as Chinese Poetry, Literature History, Literature and Film, etc.

Prior to joining HKCC, she was a research assistant of The Research Centre for Chinese Literature and Literary Culture of The Hong Kong Institute of Education. Besides assisting with projects funded by the General Research Fund, she conducted research work on Chinese literature and literary culture, and also engaged in research activities and some administration work.

Dr Chen’s research interests include Chinese Literary Criticism, Chinese Poetics, Chinese Language, and Chinese Culture. She has published several papers in major academic journals in both mainland China and Taiwan. These papers cover a variety of topics in Chinese literature and intellectual history, as well as Chinese philosophy and folklore.
