Dr Bianca Cheung received her BA (History) from The University of Hong Kong. She then obtained her MPhil (History and Gender Studies) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and her PhD (Humanities) from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Before joining HKCC, Dr Cheung was a visiting scholar at The Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute, Kansai and the University of California, San Diego. She also taught a course on Gender and History in the Master of Arts Programme in Gender Studies of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Her academic interests include modern Chinese history, Chinese culture, gender and women’s history, history of East Asia and cultural exchanges with the West.
