Ms Sylvia Ng graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor's degree and an MPhil degree in Sociology. Having keen interest in the study of civil society in Hong Kong and China, She worked as a research associate after graduation in the Department of Applied Social Sciences of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University to conduct comparative studies among Hong Kong, China and Taiwan, focusing on the study of civil society.

Before joining HKCC, She had been teaching Sociology in various institutions for years, for instance, she was a visiting lecturer at HKCC, a visiting associate at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a part-time lecturer at the Community College of City University and a teaching assistant at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, etc.

At HKCC, She teaches subjects in the area of Sociology and related to China studies.

Besides teaching and conducting research, she also enjoys writing introspective articles, reading inspiring books and watching good movies.
