Dr Luk received his Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Hong Kong Baptist University. He then obtained his Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy in Humanities from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Before joining HKCC, Dr Luk had taught subjects related to Chinese Philosophy as well as Critical Thinking at the Department of Religion and Philosophy and the College of International Education at Hong Kong Baptist University. He has also held a series of public talks on Taoism at Hong Kong Taoist College.
