After graduating from the University of Toronto, Dr Chan returned to Hong Kong and worked as an assistant manager for a multi-national company with a workforce of over 3,000 staff worldwide. To further solidify her professionalism in marketing, Dr Chan completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and took part in the marketing professional examinations which qualified her as a full member of The Chartered Institute of Marketing UK and the Hong Kong Institute of Marketing; thereafter she was granted the professional status of Chartered Marketer.
Before joining HKCC, Dr Chan taught at tertiary level in Hong Kong. She was a subject leader for several marketing modules. As a programme leader, she has successfully completed the course validation of a Diploma in Sales Management and Services Marketing. Dr Chan has also been teaching part-time marketing modules at undergraduate level, and serving as a dissertation supervisor for Northumbria University and Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK for a number of years.
