This programme teaches you the history, culture, social and economic development of China, Japan and Southeast Asia. It also develops your proficiency in Putonghua and Japanese, and strengthens your fundamental knowledge of contemporary Asian and Western cultures. It is especially suitable for those interested in devoting themselves to education, business, government, or the arts on the Chinese mainland or within the East Asian cultural sphere.

You are required to take, in two years, 20 - 22 subjects in total, comprising 12 - 14 General Education Subjects and 8 Discipline-specific Subjects.

 

General Education Subjects

 

8 - 9 Compulsory Subjects

 

  • Chinese Communication for College Students@ OR Elementary Chinese~
  • Creative and Critical Thinking
  • Elementary Statistics
  • English for Academic Studies (Humanities and Communication) I
  • English for Academic Studies (Humanities and Communication) II
  • Information Technology for Language Studies
  • Introduction to Communication Studies
  • Practical English for College Students^
  • Putonghua for Cultural and Communication Purposes@

 

@Taught in Putonghua
~Students who are non-Chinese speakers, or whose Chinese standards are at junior secondary level or below are required to take this subject.
^Students with Level 3 or above in HKDSE English are exempted from taking this subject.
