Yuen Ching-him, Pierre
Graduate of Associate in Health Studies
Articulated into CUHK’s Bachelor of Nursing (Hons)
A helpful person deeply interested in biology, Pierre was determined to enrol in a programme related to health studies or nursing after completing his secondary education. “The Associate in Health Studies programme boasts comprehensive content which covers nursing science, psychology, and sociology, etc., and it offers many different articulation pathways to graduates,” said Pierre.
Pierre said the programme equipped students with fundamental healthcare knowledge. In the programme, lecturers were always reminding students to try to put themselves in the patient’s shoes. “Patients have different personalities, so it is essential for a nurse to understand patients’ characters and behaviour before he or she could offer the help patients really need.”
HKCC also arranged for Pierre to work as an intern at a nursing home and a hospital where he was responsible for measuring the height, weight and blood glucose levels of patients. “The internship training deepened my understanding about the duties of a nurse and strengthened my determination to become a nurse and help more people in need,” said Pierre.
