Cheng Chung-ki, Karis
Graduate of Associate in Applied Social Sciences (Sociology and Culture)
Articulated into CUHK’s Bachelor of Social Sciences in Sociology
The Associate in Applied Social Sciences (Sociology and Culture) programme kindled my interest in social research and participation. Sociological theories and knowledge gave me a whole new perspective on thinking, allowed me to re-develop my understanding about individuals, history and society as well as fostered my humanistic solicitude. Through the application of social research methods, I had the opportunity to interact with different groups so as to explore society. Lecturers’ guidance and the excellent learning environment both helped make my journey at HKCC enjoyable.
Apart from classroom learning, my internship at the Public Opinion Programme of The University of Hong Kong was also a rewarding experience. Through conducting telephone interviews, doing head counting in marches and assisting in organising big international conferences, I could gain hands-on experience of public opinion research, apply my research skills as well as enhance my problem-solving skills and team spirit.
