  • Solid training in social research methods and sociological theories, with substantive focus on the study of urban culture and cultural politics
  • Strengthen students' competence in critical thinking and enhance their civic awareness

 

This programme will equip you with a solid foundation in social science knowledge. Besides acquiring broad-based knowledge, you will learn the essential theories and research methods in sociology, and understand the humanistic underpinning of the discipline. Through active learning in both lectures and seminars, you will learn to apply your knowledge to real-life situations, and acquire essential skills, knowledge and attitude for further studies and career development in sociology or cultural studies.

You are required to take, in two years, 20 - 22 subjects in total, comprising 12 - 14 General Education Subjects and 8 Discipline-specific Subjects.

~Students who are non-Chinese speakers, or whose Chinese standards are at junior secondary level or below are required to take this subject.
^Students with Level 3 or above in HKDSE English are exempted from taking this subject.
