Programme Objectives 課程宗旨

This programme offered by SPEED aims to provide students with a broad-based and holistic postsecondary education and prepare students for entry into Associate Degree and Higher Diploma
programmes. It places heavy emphasis on generic knowledge and skills development; and provides students with opportunities to appreciate knowledge in specialised disciplines and other areas that are
broadening in nature.

專業進修學院開辦之副學士預科課程旨在提供全面教育，為有志升讀副學士課程或高級文憑課程人士作準備。課程著重一般基礎知識，學生亦有機會接觸到專門學術範疇的基本理論。

Programme Structure 課程結構

Students are required to complete 150 hours of non-credit bearing foundation study, 7 compulsory
subjects (22 credits) and 4 electives (12 credits).

學生須修畢150小時的非學分基礎科目、7項必修科目(22學分)及4項選修科目(12學分)。

Remarks備註：

1. Students with Level 3 or above (grade D or above for results obtained before 2007) in Chinese Language AND at least 10 points# in 6 subjects in one single HKCEE attempt are exempted from taking ‘Foundation Chinese’.
   在同一次香港中學會考中，於6科取得總積點最少10點#及中國語文科考獲第三級或以上(2007年以前為D級或以上) 的學生將獲豁免修 讀「基礎中文」。
   
2. Students with Level 3 or above in English Language (grade D or above in English Language (Syllabus B) for results obtained before 2007) AND at least 10 points# in 6 subjects in one single HKCEE attempt are exempted from taking ‘Foundation English’.
   在同一次香港中學會考中，於6科取得總積點最少10點#及英國語文科考獲第三級或以上(2007年以前英國語文(課程乙)為D級或以上)的學生將獲豁免修讀「基礎英文」。
3. Elective subjects will be offered in specified study centres. Choices of electives for each student are limited to those offered by the centre the student is attached to. Please refer to the section ‘Choice of Study’ for details.
   選修科目於指定教學中心開辦，學生只可修讀所屬教學中心開辦的選修科目，詳情請參閱「修讀選擇」一欄。
   

# Levels 1 to 5* for Chinese Language and English Language will be converted into points 0 to 5 respectively.
中國語文科及英國語文科的第一至五*級相應化為0至5積點。

Academic Year and Study Load 學年及修習進度

There are two teaching semesters (commencing in mid September and January) in each academic year. Students are required to take ‘Foundation Chinese’, 4 compulsory subjects and 1 elective in Semester 1, and 3 compulsory subjects and 3 electives in Semester 2. ‘Foundation English’ will be held from early to mid September. Workshops on ‘Skills for College Studies’ will be held throughout the whole academic year.

每學年分為兩個學期 (分別在9月中及1月開課)。學生須於第1學期修讀「基礎中文」、4個必修科及1個選修科及於第2學期修讀3個必修科及3個選修科。「基礎英文」於9月上旬上課，而「大專學習技巧」工作坊則於全個學年舉行。
