HKCC's General Education (GE) is an integral part of the curricula of its Associate Degree (AD) and Higher Diploma (HD) programmes, offering students intellectual training crucial to their effective learning and lifelong development. GE compulsory subjects help equip students with a solid foundation in generic competence encompassing languages, interpersonal communication, quantitative and analytical skills, information processing and evaluation, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and learning-to-learn skills. In addition, GE elective subjects further broaden students' knowledge base and enhance their appreciation and understanding of different academic disciplines.

GE in HKCC shares the objective of General University Requirement (GUR) of the PolyU to broaden students' horizons and promote their holistic development. Along with discipline-specific subjects and co-curricular activities, GE in HKCC contributes to the holistic development of students, helping them to become effective communicators, critical thinkers, practical problem solvers, ethical citizens, lifelong learners and competent paraprofessionals.
